Monterrey Dominates Urawa Red 4-0, Advances with Style

Monterrey crushed Urawa Red Diamonds 4-0 in the final Group E match of the 2025 Club World Cup.

Playing at Rose Bowl, Pasadena, Monterrey started off cautiously. Urawa Red pushed ahead initially, but Monterrey gradually came out stronger. After half an hour, goals started pouring in for the Mexican club.

Nelson Deossa kicked off Monterrey's scoring journey in the 30th minute, followed by German Berterame four minutes later, and Jesus Corona wrapped up the first half with a solid 3-0 lead.


Second half saw intense action!

The second half was a rollercoaster of attacks. Urawa Red, with fresh players, threatened Monterrey's goal but couldn't score. Monterrey also struggled to expand their lead, with Jesus Corona and Nelson Deossa trying hard.

In the 91st minute, Urawa's Thiago Santana finally found the net, but the goal got annulled after a VAR check. Monterrey struck back with a fast counter, as German Berterame netted one more, sealing a 4-0 win. This victory lands Monterrey with 5 points, ending second below Inter Milan, who simultaneously beat River Plate 2-0 in Group E. Monterrey moves to the 16th round of the 2025 Club World Cup alongside Inter, while Urawa Red and River Plate bow out. Monterrey will face Borussia Dortmund, Group F's top team with 7 points, next. Inter is set to clash with Fluminense, Group F's runner-up.
